How it works
Every document on BuilderDraft sits on a link between two parties, with a direction, under a procurement route. Each link runs in two halves. Pre-contract covers everything up to its award: scope, invitation, proposals or tenders, evaluation and award. Post-contract covers everything after it. The design consultant’s post-contract stages are concept, schematic and detailed design, approvals and the tender package; the supervision consultant’s are mobilisation, supervision, recommendations and close-out; contracts and packages run from signing through building, changes and payments to handover. Most documents also sit on a process, such as a variation or a payment, that runs through several links.
Documents follow the forms used across the UAE and GCC: FIDIC 1999 Red Book conditions for Design-Bid-Build and Yellow Book conditions for Design and Build, the FIDIC Conditions of Subcontract 2011 for subcontracts, the FIDIC White Book for consultancy appointments, UAE VAT requirements for invoices, and the permit and completion certificate practice of the municipalities and civil defence. Clause references and time limits are typical; your particular conditions govern.
